Elica Joan (Sims) Maples

Elica Maples, 64, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday June 4th, 2021, after a courageous 6-year battle with cancer.  Funeral Services will be held Monday, June 7th at 2:00 pm at Marshall Memorial Funeral Home.  Burial will follow afterwards at Marshall Memorial Gardens.  Brothers Donnie Sims and Chris Sims will officiate the service. The family will receive friends on Sunday night from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

Pallbearers will be Shirl Dollar, James Lesley, Blake Sims, Ryle Sims, Shannon Sims and Andy Williams.

Elica was preceded in death by her parents: Brother Grover Sims and Dot Sims; brothers Donald Sims, Lavon Sims, Earnest Sims and Freddie Sims and grandson Austin Queen.

Elicia was born and raised in the Sims community her entire life.  She cleaned houses and offices, so she would be able to devote her time to her kids and her grandkids.  She was a strong Christian woman who grew up attending Welcome Bethel Church.  She enjoyed traveling with her husband Mike.  They visited 48 of the 50 states, only lacking Hawaii and Minnesota.

She is survived by her husband Mike Maples; her daughters Heather Henson and her husband Craig; Tiffany Gary and her husband Lance; grandchildren Landon Gary and Addison Gary; sister Dorothy Dollar; and her brother Darrel Sims and his wife Carolyn Sims.
