Edna Hibbs Obituary

Edna “Sue” Hibbs, 81, passed away early Sunday morning March 27th, 2022, with her loving daughter by her side.  Marshall Memorial Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.  A memorial service will be planned for later this summer.

Sue was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband George Hibbs, her parents James and Katie Bell Hawkins and her brother James C Hawkins Jr.

Sue was an avid reader, who would often read a book per day. It wasn’t uncommon for her to have a book in her hand anywhere she was.  She loved to travel with her family, the tradition of traveling started with her husband George.  In the last few days of her life, she kept telling her family she wanted to go to the beach or mountains.

Sue did not enjoy cooking, but her chicken and dumplings were legendary.  She was known for chicken and dumplings and taught her grandchildren how to duplicate the recipe.  She loved to cook cakes, pies and cookies or anything sweet.

Sue is survived by her loving daughter Sheila Golden; grandchildren Amanda Slaton and her husband Jeremy; Jessica Glass and her husband Elliot; great-grandchildren Carson Glass, Hayden Slaton, Isaac Slaton, Mya Glass, and Ian Slaton and her sister Betty Slaton and her husband Gerald, her nephew Tim and his wife Linda Slaton; her sister Gayle Hawkins and a host of nieces and nephews.
