Billie Jean (Lewis) Proffitt

Billie Jean Proffitt, 87, passed away at Piedmont Health Care Monday morning July 26th, 2021.  Marshall Memorial Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.  Graveside services will be held Monday August 2nd, 2021, at 11:00 am in Marshall Memorial Gardens.

Billie was preceded in death by her husband Robert Ray Proffitt; her daughter Kellie Proffitt; her parents Robert and Hattie Lewis; and her sisters and brother.

Mrs. Proffitt was born and raised in Guntersville, AL where she attended Guntersville School System.  She was the youngest child born to Robert and Hattie Lewis.

Billie had her oldest child Jackie in 1953 and he was the apple of her eye.  She married Bobby Proffitt when Jackie was 14 and they welcomed their daughter Kellie in 1968. 

Billie worked at Jack’s Cafe, Webb’s Restaurant and Reid’s Restaurant and then finally worked at Lee Plant.  Once she retired, she helped by tending to her grandchildren.

Billie is survived by her son Jackie Baird and his wife Donna; her grandchildren Dustin Baird and his wife Pamela; Brad Baird and his wife Amanda; her great grandchildren Kara Baird, Jack Hunter Baird, and Alice Grace Baird.

The family will receive friends Monday August 2nd, 2021, from 10:00 am until the start of the service.
