Arne Swanson

Arne Swanson, 80, passed away Thursday, June 25th, 2020 at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga, TN.  Graveside Services will be held Monday, July 6th, 2020 at 2:00 pm at Marshall Memorial Funeral Home.  Burial will follow at Marshall Memory Gardens.

Arne was preceded in death by his wife Ellen Swanson; his parents and his brother.

Arne was born in Minnesota, where he lived until he graduated high school.  He met the love of his life Ellen in Miami, Florida when he attended Embry Riddle Aeronautical.  They married on July 6th, 1963.  They welcomed their son Darryl when they lived in Florida, then their daughter, Sandra, arrived while they lived in Virginia.

Arne worked as a Vibrations Engineer for NASA during the Apollo missions, living in Alabama, Virginia, and Texas before returning to school in Minnesota.  He and his family settled in South Florida where they remained until the kids were through school.  His dream was to live in Guntersville and when he retired, he went on vacation to Guntersville and never went back home.

Arne was affectionately called “Mr. Fix-It” by his family and friends.  He was constantly tinkering in his woodshop, building, and fixing things.

Arne is survived by his loving children Darryl Swanson of Oregon; his daughter Sandra Bergemann-Harris and her husband Mike of Florida; his 2 grandchildren Eric Reed Bergemann and Megan Harris; and several brothers and sister.  Arne was survived by his faithful and loving companion Paisy, his dog.

Visitation will be Monday July 6th, from 1:00 pm until the start of the service at Marshall Memorial Funeral Home.
