Roosevelt Daniels, age 92, passed away peacefully at Terrace Lake in Guntersville, Alabama, on July 3rd, 2025.
Born and raised in Kentucky, Roosevelt was a proud American who chose service over self. Though he earned a basketball scholarship to the University of Kentucky, he felt a deeper calling and volunteered for the U.S. Army, serving bravely in Vietnam. He went on to dedicate 20 years to his country, earning an honorable discharge and always considering his military service among his greatest achievements—second only to being a father.
Following his military retirement, Roosevelt settled in Grant, Alabama, where he managed the local SanAnn gas station and built a quiet, fulfilling life. He was known for his deep love of sports, especially Alabama football. Saturdays in the fall were sacred, spent cheering on the Crimson Tide with unwavering passion.
At the age of 90, Roosevelt took a significant step in his faith, being baptized in Lake Guntersville—an act of devotion that deeply reflected his character and belief in God.
Roosevelt was preceded in death by his parents, John Daniels and Geneva Pak, and all of his siblings. He is survived by his loving daughter, Amber Johnson, and her husband, Michael.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9th, 2025, at Marshall Memorial Funeral Home, with Brother Brad Howard officiating. Full military honors will follow at the Marshall Memorial Mausoleum. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 p.m. until the time of service.
Roosevelt Daniels will be remembered as a devoted soldier, a loving father, and a passionate fan of life’s simple joys.
