Robert E. Lee Goble, Sr., 90, of Guntersville, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his home on May 24, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held at Marshall Memorial Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 5:00 PM. Burial will follow in Marshall Memorial Gardens.
He was preceded in death by his children: Mark Goble, Robert “Bobby” Goble, Jr., Catherine Jill Goble, and Darryl Goble; his grandson, Nicholas Lee Goble; his great-grandson, Brady Dylan Lee Goble; his parents, Jessie and Sophie Goble; and all his siblings.
Pallbearers will be: Michael Varnell; Jalen Cook; Javie Holmes: Blake Posvar; Richard Smith; Nathan Goble and Shorty Lockhart.
Born and raised in Alabama, Robert was a man of deep-rooted traditions and simple joys. He cherished the companionship of his mules, Rube and Jack, as they carried him on countless meals-on-wheels journeys, sharing nourishment and kindness with his community. An avid participant in wagon trail rides, Robert found solace and camaraderie on the open trails. He and his devoted wife, Margaret, spent 65 years dancing together wherever music played, their love evident in every step. Their shared passion for dining out and enjoying life’s pleasures was a testament to their enduring bond. In his leisure, Robert found joy in watching Westerns, with Gunsmoke being his favorite.
Robert held an annual frog fry last Saturday in May. All his children and grandchildren loved the annual frog leg party.
Robert was also a Cherokee Indian. This was something that he was extremely proud of and even displayed his certificate proudly at home.
Robert’s life was a testament to love, service, and the simple pleasures that bring joy. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Robert is survived by his devoted wife of 65 years, Margaret; his grandchildren: Courtney Michelle Looney, Raven Timmerman Maffett, Michele Varnell, Nathan Goble, and John Goble; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM until the start of the service at Marshall Memorial Funeral Home.
