Peggy Ann (Brown) Mcallister

Peggy Ann McAllister, 73, of Horton passed away Friday, May 26th, 2023, at Marshall Medical South with her loving family by her side.  Marshall Memorial Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.  Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, May 31st, 2023, at Marshall Memorial Funeral Home with Brother Kerry Bryant officiating.  Burial will follow in Marshall Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be:  Dalton McAllister; Tony Taylor; Troy Richards; Jaron Beasley; Randall Giles; Jeremy Tims and Andrew O’Dell.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Christine Brown and her brother Raymond E Brown.

Peggy was born in Arkansas, but was raised in Michigan, where she graduated from Edwardsburg High School.  She met and married the love of her life Raymond McAllister in Elkhart, IN before they relocated to Horton.

After she moved to Alabama, she attended Wallace State Community College where she received her LPN.  She worked as a nurse to help support her family.

Raymond and Peggy were married for 58 adventurous years.  They loved to travel and one of their favorite places to visit was the Ark in Kentucky.  Peggy loved Elvis and visiting Graceland with her daughters.

She was a tough determined lady who raised her children to be independent adults.  She loved to do crossword puzzles and usually had one in her hand working through the puzzle.  She made a quilt that her children called “the around the world” weighted blanket.

Peggy is survived by her adoring husband Raymond; her children Kenneth McAllister; Kimberly McCarty and Kathy Downey; her grandchildren Dalton McAllister; Whitney McAllister; Harley McAllister; Jordan Downey, Destiny Downey and Kylie Murdock; her great-grandchildren Luther, Marylou, Jaxon, Aleck and Colton and her sister Pamela Lambert.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm on Wednesday until the start of the service.
