Patricia (Patty) Ann McLaughlin, 79, passed away at her home in Guntersville on September 18th, 2024. Marshall Memorial Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. The family will hold a private Celebration of Life to honor Ms. McLaughlin.
Patty was preceded in death by her husband Dave McLaughlin, her parents Charles and Helen Spain and her sister Mary Kathleen McLaughlin.
Patty had a tough exterior, but anyone that she knew would tell you that inside she was a marshmallow. She was one of the kindest people you would ever meet and often went out of her way to help her family, friends and coworkers. She would give her last dollar to someone in need.
Patty was a prolific self-taught artist who enjoyed creating beautiful works of art to showcase in her home and her family’s homes. She enjoyed different styles of art and spent her spare time dreaming up visions to share.
She worked at Olympia brewery and was one of only a few women who worked in a field dominated by men. After she retired, she decided to travel and bought an RV. She made her way across the country by herself, enjoying seeing different parts of the country.
She always put her family first though. Anytime she could, she went and helped them or visited them as she could. Her family always enjoyed her visits because she was the life of any house that she visited.
Patty is survived by her children: David McLaughlin Jr.; Michele Bowers and Lisa Smith; her grandchildren Katherine Lynn Wright, Michael David Smith, Dereck Quinn McLaughlin, Brenton Charles McLaughlin, Ryan Mathew Goodman and Erin Marie Goodman; and great-grandchildren Jackson Wright and Aubrey Wright; and her siblings: Robert Spain; Virginia Vinson and Elizabeth Murphy.
