Nella Faye Huffstutler, a woman whose heart had no limits and whose arms were always open, passed away on February 26, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on October 21, 1954, Faye lived a life defined by love — love for her family, love for her patients, and love for anyone fortunate enough to cross her path.
Faye was, in every sense of the word, a caregiver. She devoted her professional life to nursing, pouring herself into the care of others with the same tenderness she gave her own family. She took special joy in teaching nursing students, passing on not just her skills, but her spirit — the belief that caring for another person is one of the most sacred things a human being can do. Those she mentored didn't just learn medicine; they learned what it means to show up for someone in their most vulnerable moments.
But it was her family that was the true center of her world. Faye was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who made every person she loved feel like the most important person in the room. She didn't just show up — she went out of her way to make things special. A thoughtful gesture, a home-cooked meal, a moment made memorable because she cared enough to make it so. To know Faye was to know what it felt like to be unconditionally loved and genuinely welcomed.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Mabel Seay, her daughter, Lisa Faye Holmes; her daughter-in-law, Lisa Marie Huffstutler; and her brother, Jimbo Gibson.
Faye is survived by her children: Michael Huffstutler, Pamela Davis, Christopher Huffstutler and his husband Lance, Matthew Huffstutler and his wife Stephanie, and son in law David Holmes. She also leaves behind her beloved sisters, Roberta LaCrone, Sherry Ledford, and Nora Jean Jones, who shared a lifetime of memories with her. Together with 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, they carry forward her warmth, her laughter, and the love she so freely gave to everyone around her.
Faye gave more than she ever took. She healed the sick, shaped the next generation of caregivers, and built a family rooted in love. The world is quieter without her, but immeasurably better for everything she gave while she was here.
Rest easy, Faye. You were so deeply loved.
Pallbearers: Cory Holmes, Ben Holmes, Blake Holmes, Elijah Holmes, Landon Huffstutler, and Ayden Huffstutler.
