In Loving Memory of Nancy Sue Alexander Isbill

Nancy Sue Alexander Isbill was born on March 1, 1940 in Guntersville, AL. She was a woman who was impossible to forget. Nancy Sue was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, wife, and friend, but to those who knew her best, she was so much more. Nancy had a big heart, a strong personality, and a spirit that could fill an entire room.

Nancy was a spunky old lady and she wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. She was always the life of the party bringing laughter, personality, and just the right amount of sass wherever she went. She was never afraid to speak her mind. If she thought it, she said it—and you always knew exactly where you stood with Nancy. Her honesty, humor, and one-of-a-kind personality made her unforgettable and are among the many things her family will miss most.

Nancy also had a special appreciation for the simple and beautiful things in life. She loved photographing nature, especially flowers, hummingbirds, and the moon. She enjoyed listening to Billy Ray Cyrus and had a particular soft spot for frogs because, in Nancy’s eyes, they were simply the cutest things. These little things brought her happiness and offered her so many moments to smile.

Above all else, Nancy loved her family. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest treasures and there was nothing she enjoyed more than spending time with them. Whether they were gathered together celebrating, laughing, sharing stories, or simply enjoying each other’s company, those moments meant everything to her. Her family was the center of her world and the love she gave them will continue to live on through each of them.

Nancy’s love for God was also an important part of her life. Her faith gave her comfort, strength, and hope and she carried that faith with her throughout her journeys in life.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn and Bill Alexander, and her beloved husband, Roger Isbill.

She leaves behind her sister, Callie Jean Scruggs; her children, Wayne (Michelle) Cox, Susan (Craig) Miller, Vicki Cox, Mandy (Matt) Roberts, Randy (Tina) Isbill, and Rodney Isbill; 25 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends who were blessed to know and love her.

Nancy’s family will remember her, not only for the love she gave so freely, but for the way she made life brighter simply by being herself. They will hear her voice in their memories, smile when they see a hummingbird or look up at the moon, think of her when they see a little frog, and laugh when they remember something she said that only Nancy could get away with saying.

She was truly one of a kind. She was deeply loved, fiercely herself, and will be missed more than words can express.

Although her chair may be empty and her voice may be quiet, Nancy’s love, laughter, faith, and spunky spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
