Guntersville

Louise Ledbetter Beard, age 94, of Guntersville, Alabama, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2026. She was born on April 25, 1931, in Alabama.

Louise was a devoted Christian whose life was rooted in faith, family, and service to others. She was a longtime member of Bakers Chapel Baptist Church, where she faithfully attended services every Sunday until just three weeks before her passing. Louise taught Sunday School for many years, sharing her love for God and nurturing generations with patience and grace.

Known for her deep love of flowers, Louise had a true green thumb—both fingers and toes—and took great joy in tending to her gardens. Her home was always open, welcoming anyone who came through her door. She had a special way of making people feel at home, often doing so with a warm smile, a plate of homemade banana pudding, and a glass of sweet tea. Louise was gentle, loving, and kind, leaving a lasting impression on everyone she met.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elmer “Bill” Beard; her sons, David Earl Beard and Donnie K. Beard; her daughter-in-law, Shirley Beard; and her granddaughter, Lindsey McKaye Beard.

She is survived by her children, Billy Beard (Donna), Perry Beard, and Rita Graham (Charles); her grandchildren, Daryl Beard, Melissa Mason (Eric), Dustin Wright (Alison), Daniel Sutton, and Sarah Gossett; and her great-grandchildren, Ana-Lee Murphy (Roman), Matthew Beard, Brylee Kate Mason, Trevor Mason, Avery Claire Mason, Brooks Wright, Lexie Wright, Collins Wright, Aubrie Gossett, Caleum Wright, and Branson Gossett.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Marshall Memorial Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service. Brother Terry Sharp will officiate.

Louise’s legacy of faith, love, hospitality, and service will live on through her family and all those whose lives she touched.
