Ina Ruth Hewett

Ina Ruth Hewett, known affectionately as Ruthie by her family and friends, was released from her earthly body into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on September 26, 2025.

Ruthie was born in Horton, Alabama on March 2, 1935 to the late Jesse and Pauline Hewett.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Jesse Hewett, Jr., Charles Hewett, Bertha Culbert, Erma Lee Strange, Kathryn Britnell; nephews, Clint Culbert, Charles Strange and niece, Debra McDaniel (William).

She was a lover of people. Always putting the needs of others before her own, Ruthie made friends fast. With her quick wit and lively personality, she brought joy to others with her jokes and funny stories. She cared for her friends and coworkers throughout her life always giving freely of herself to provide for and meet the needs of those she loved.

Ruthie is survived by nephews James Culbert (Sherry), Michael Hewett, Bobby Culbert (Leesa), Bill Strange, Jimmy Strange; nieces Cindy Hewett, Glenda Collum (Terry), Donna Adendorff (Colin), Susan Simmons, a host of great-nephews, great-nieces and her found family - Stefanie New, Judy Holdbrook and numerous staff members at McGuffey Healthcare Center in Gadsden, Alabama who loved her deeply and cared for her during her final years on this earth.

A memorial service will be held for her Monday, September 29, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Marshall Memorial Funeral Home in Albertville, Alabama. There will be no visitation.

The family wishes to express immense gratitude to McGuffey Healthcare Center and Southern Care Hospice of Gadsden, Alabama.
