Gwyn (Walden) Mcallister

Edith "Gwyn" McAlister, 72, passed away at her residence Saturday morning surrounded by her loving family.  Marshall Memorial Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.  The service will be Monday, May 3rd, 2021 at 4:00 pm at Marshall Memorial Funeral Home with Brother John Whitaker officiating.  Burial will follow afterwards in Marshall Memory Gardens.

Gywn was preceded in death by son Michael McAllister; parents George and Mary Ellen Walden; sister Elizabeth Ann McCormick; grandson Ryan McAllister; and brother-in-law Gary Timmerman.

Gywn was the first child born to George and Mary Ellen in Albertville; grew up in the Mountainboro area and attended the Sardis school system.  She graduated Wallace State where she attained her RN.

She met and married the love of her life Gene in 1984 and they enjoyed raising their family of 6 children:  Deidra, Donny, David, Michael, Marty and Brenda.

One of her favorite things to do was sing and her family has multiple cassette tapes of her singing her favorite songs. If she wasn’t singing, she was sewing clothes, upholstery and anything that she could.

Gywn is survived by her soulmate Gene McAllister; her daughter Deidra Davis and her husband Edward; her son Donny Moore and his wife Angie; her son David McAllister and his wife Regina; her son Marty McAllister and her daughter Brenda McAllister; grandkids LaDon, Daniel, Christian, Jacob, Doug, Cynthia, Heath, Casey and Bailey; several great grandchildren; her sister Joyce Timmerman; and her brother George Walden and his wife Mary.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 pm until the start of the service on Monday.
