Gena Cheryl Willis

Gena Cheryl Willis, 72, of Boaz passed away on Friday, December 13th, 2024, at Marshall Medical Center South. Marshall Memorial Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Graveside Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, December 18th, 2024, at Marshall Memorial Gardens with Sister Glinda Hughs officiating.

Gena was preceded in death by her daughter Kimberly Rankins and her parents Mac and Joyce Olds.

Gena was born and raised in Chicago and moved to Michigan as an adult. She met and married her devoted husband Matthew in Michigan. After a few more years in the cold weather, Matthew and Gena decided to move to Boaz to be with her sister. They enjoyed living in the warmer weather. Gena enjoyed 33 years with her husband before she passed away.

Mrs. Willis was a caring mother to her two younger sisters. She was 10 years older than her sisters Rena and Tina, so she became their caregiver. That experience made her a wonderful mother to her own daughter Kimberly.

She was a hard-working person, who worked at the Bible Factory Outlet for several years before she retired. Gena was a strong independent person who helped others out, but she would tell you how she felt as well.

Gena is survived by her loving husband Matthew; her sisters Rena Lee and Tina Olds; her nieces Angela Lee; Nikki Justice; Melissa Johnson; and Rakall Plunkett; her nephews Jessie Lee; Justin Plunkett and Jason Johnson and her adoring fur babies Toby; Sammy and Rusty.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 12:00 pm until the start of the service.
