Freddie Mose Payne, 74, passed away on January 17, 2026. He was born on October 24, 1951, in Lake City, Arkansas, to the late Mary Payne Clark and Fred C. Payne.
Freddie spent many years working out of Atlanta, Georgia, as a dedicated Iron Worker with Union 387. Through hard work and commitment to his trade, he built a career he was proud of before retiring. No matter where work took him, Freddie always considered Alabama his home.
He is survived by his loving wife, Karen Payne; his children, Keith Payne, Kelley Payne Johnson (Brandon), his grandchildren: Makenley Payne; Madie Payne; Jaden Hornbuckle; Grayson Jones; Khole Jones and Kylee Johnson; His great-grandchildren: Waylon Alexander; Clayton Hornbuckle; Emmy Hornbuckle; children: Jimmy Hulsey (Crystal) and Randall Hulsey and special grandson Scooter; special daughter Regina Ivey (DeWayne); grandsons Dakota Stricklin; Jessie Stricklin; Brantley Stricklin; Aubrielle Stricklin and Aurora Stricklin.
Freddie will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his love for his family, and the pride he took in providing for those he loved. His presence, stories, and devotion to family will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Freddie will be interred alongside his beloved mother, Mary Payne Clark, lovingly known as “Maw Maw,” a cherished presence in his life and heart.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Brookwood Cemetery with Jimmy Williams speaking.
Marshall Memorial Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
