Daniel Ray Rutledge, 75, of Huntsville passed away early Friday, November 1st, 2024, at Shepards Cove Hospice in Albertville. Marshall Memorial Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, November 3rd, 2024, with his son-in-law Charles Whisenant officiating. Burial will follow afterwards at the mausoleum in Marshall Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Bill Schultze; Bryan Young; Jacob Spencer; Daniel Johnston; Drew Whisenant; Matt Whisenant; Dale Mahathey and Shane Purdue.
Dan was preceded in death by his loving wife Beverly Rutledge; his daughters Kelley Rutledge Johnston and Amanda Whisenant and his parents William and Ovell Rutledge.
Mr. Rutledge was born and raised in Alabama. He lived in Huntsville where he was the Operations Manager for Dunlop, until he retired.
He loved to watch Alabama football, and he was one of their biggest fans. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf and driving. He enjoyed road trips to the Smoky Mountains, and he loved to drive to the beach to get fresh seafood. He loved his Lincoln Town car, which made his frequent road trips comfortable.
Dan enjoyed relaxing and smoking his Marsh Wheeler or Garcia Vega Cigars.
Dan is survived by his son David Rutledge and his wife Nichole; his daughter Kim Taylor and her husband Bryan; his son-in-law Charles Whisenant; his grandchildren: Daniel Johnston (Mollie); Courtney Pardue (Shane); Kasi Schultze (Bill); Jordan Young (Bryan); Sydney Spencer (Jacob); Brooke Mahathey (Dale); Drew Whisenant (Taylor); and Matt Whisenant and his great-grandchildren: Journey Young, Helen Young; Ezra Schultze; Victoria Young; Luke Johnston; Landon Spencer; Everett Whisenant; Avery Kate Mahathey and future grandson Ryan Pardue and a host of special cousins that he considered brothers.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made Kelley’s Rainbow.
The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1:30 pm until the start of the service at 2:00 pm at Marshall Memorial Funeral Home.
