Dale Garrett

Oct 5, 1936 — May 21, 2026

Guntersville, Alabama

With final hugs and love from her family, Claudell (Dale) Garrett, aged 89, passed peacefully at Shepard’s Cove Hospice on 21 May 2026.

Dale was born on October 5, 1936, in the High Point Community to Claudie and Ruby Weathers; the eldest of four daughters. On January 9, 1954, she married the love of her life, Kenneth Garrett and together they shared 62 devoted years of marriage before Kenneth’s passing in March 2016.

Dale’s life was defined by her love and devotion for her family and those she cherished. She loved wholeheartedly and cared selflessly for her children, grandchildren, and extended family throughout her life. While she treasured all of them dearly, her greatest joy was found in her three great-grandchildren, whom she loved fiercely. It was their final hugs that helped usher her home. Everyone that knew Dale remembers her as a beautiful lady with a loving heart and sweet soul.

Dale was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth; her parents, Claudie and Ruby Weathers; her in-laws Horace and Irene Garrett; her brother-in-law Max Garrett, and three nephews.

She is survived by her two daughters, Annise Horton (Jeff) and Vicky Mathis (Doug) both of Guntersville; her grandchildren Brantley Mathis and Nicole Ammann (Will); her great-grandchildren Desirea Mathis, Olivia and Liam Ammann; her sisters Carolyn Dorris (Joe), Myra Cox (Jerry), and Emma Romine (Ron); along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A private graveside service will be held at Marshall Memorial Gardens, with a celebration of life to be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to Shephard’s Cove Hospice in her memory.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Jill from Right at Home, and the nurses, aides, social workers, staff, and volunteers of Shepherd’s Cove Hospice for their excellent care, love and compassion given to Dale for the last eight months.

Though Dale’s earthly presence will be deeply missed, she will forever live on in the hearts and memories of all those who knew and loved her.
