Betty LaCorte

Betty LaCorte passed away peacefully on 9/12/2026 at home surrounded by her family and loved ones. Born on September 4, 1947, in Mississippi, Betty lead a life as a good Christian woman, setting an example for her two sons, Willie Roden, Jr and Johnny Mack Roden.

In her youth, Betty worked at the Crossville Sewing Plant in Crossville, AL, as a seamstress. She would often come home covered in fuzz from the many hours she spent at the plant, which her two boys found amusing. Later in life, Betty spent many years in the Albertville school system as a lunchroom lady. Her wit, infectious smile, and loving banter made her a favorite of all the students she served meals to daily during the school year.

Betty was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Horace and Becky Perkins, who raised her with love, Christian values, and instilled in her a work ethic that is unparalleled. Awaiting her in Heaven is her beloved husband, Joe LaCorte, her third husband, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, devotion, and cherished memories. Her second husband, Ernie Bush, with whom she found love after her divorce from her first husband, Willie Roden, Sr., also awaits. Finally, also awaiting her in heaven is her baby boy, Johnny Mack Roden, who left the family way too early in 2011.

Betty is lovingly remembered as a devoted care giver. In her life, not only was she a devoted wife, but she was also a care giver for her father-in-law, Willie E Roden, during the final years of his life; she also cared for Ernie Bush when he was severely injured and became paraplegic; for Joe LaCorte after he suffered a heart attack from which he never fully recovered; and for her youngest son, Johnny, when he was diagnosed with heart failure at a young age; and again after he received a heart transplant. No one person has ever shown more love, compassion, or care than Betty did to those she loved.

Betty is survived by her oldest son, Willie Roden, Jr, who resides in Maryland with his beautiful and loving wife, Marie Vought. Betty’s extended family included numerous nieces and nephews, as well as their children. Lastly, Betty is also survived by her older brother John Nathan Perkins of Albertville, who shared of love for the Alabama football, as well as their shared loved for their pets.

A visitation for friends and family will be announced in the future to celebrate the life of this extraordinary woman.

Betty’s life was one of service to her family and loved ones. While she will be deeply missed, her spirit endures in the hearts of all who knew her. We extend our deepest sympathies to the Roden, Perkins, Bush, and LaCorte families during this challenging time. May Betty (Perkins) LaCorte rest in peace and may her memory be a blessing to all.
