James “Jim” Leon Bean, 78, of Guntersville, AL passed away at Marshall Medical Center North with his loving family by his side. Marshall Memorial Funeral Home will be handling the arrangements. A Celebration of Life will be held at 5:00 pm on Thursday, August 31st, 2023, at Marshall Memorial Funeral Home.
James was preceded in death by his son James Scott Bean; his parents James and Ida Mae Bean and his sister Brenda Bean Camp.
James was born and raised in Alabama to James and Ida Mae Bean. He attended Douglas High School until he quit school to start working. He worked as a maintenance technician at Dunlop for several years, until he retired in his mid-50’s.
He was visiting a friend one day when he saw the beautiful Gail walking across the parking lot. He told his friend “That he was going to marry that girl”, and he did on February 24th, 1978.
James was a Corvette and Harley guy. He collected anything and everything related to his 2 loves. He owned several Corvette Stingrays and Harleys until he sold them in his later years.
He was a member of American Legion Post 8 in Guntersville for years where he served as chaplain. He loved the rides that the group took to Thunder Beach for Bike week each year. That was something he looked forward to each year.
James is survived by his loving wife Gail Bean; his children: Alesia Michelle Bass and Amy Mashee Bean; his grandchildren: Jessica Mashee Hamilton (Ethan); Stephen Austin Woods; Anna-Scott-Roslene Cornutt (Nathan); Brooke Gentry Davis, Katheryn Danielle Cole and William Joseph Bass; his brothers Larry J Bean (Sandra) and Alan W Bean; and sister-in-law Marjan Formby; special niece Lacey Jo Formby; brother-in-law Kenneth Formby (Linda); several great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 pm on Thursday until the start of the service.
