Phillip B Bishop

Graveside services for Phillip Bruce Bishop of Union Grove, 87, will be Monday, June 3rd, 2019 at 2:00 pm at Marshall Memory Gardens.  Marshall Memorial Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Philip was born June 22nd, 1931 in Cash, Arkansas and at the age of 17, he joined the Navy.  Mr. Bishop served in the Korean War where he received the Korean Service Medal, Navy Occupation “Asia” Service Medal and the China Service Medal.  After he was honorably discharged, he came back to Marshall County where he lived the last 60 years.

While living in Guntersville, he served his community as a volunteer firefighter, he was a member of the Shriners and he was a Mason.

Mr. Bishop never met a stranger and always made friends with anyone new that he met.  He was known for his friendliness and his ability to put new friends at ease.

Mr. Bishop is survived by his daughter Kathy Smallwood and his son Christopher Bishop, several brothers and sisters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous cousins.
