Brenda Lee (Shumate) Obenlander

Brenda Lee Shumate Obenlander, 64, of Albertville passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at MMCS.  Marshall Memorial Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.  Funeral Services will be held Sunday, March 24th, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Marshall Memorial Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Marshall Memorial Gardens.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents Walter Shumate and Corrine Wright; her son Chevis Coffey; and her brother Tony Shumate.

Brenda was born in Chicago, grew up in Atlanta, but spent the last 40 years of her life in Alabama.  She loved to laugh and make people laugh and was typically the life of the party.  She loved to joke around with people and had a very sarcastic sense of humor. 

She loved music and enjoyed listening to her favorite songs whenever she had a chance.  She had a huge heart and loved people; she was very down to earth. She was an animal lover, who never met a dog that she didn’t stop to pet.

She was a free spirit who enjoyed all that life had to offer and she touched the lives of anyone she met.  She was a huge Georgia Bulldog fan and enjoyed the last few years of football season.  Her grandchildren meant everything to her.

Brenda is survived by her daughter Angel Campbell and her husband Tim; her grandchildren Skyla Campbell and Sierra Campbell; her brother Gary Wright; a host of nieces and nephews and several chosen grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 pm on Sunday until the start of the service.
